about curious snoots
Transforming walks. Transforming lives.
our why
At Curious Snoots, we believe walks are more than a daily obligation or a way to burn energy. They’re one of the most powerful and overlooked routines in a dog’s life.
Walks happen every day. They shape how dogs experience the world, how safe they feel, and how connected they feel to their humans. When approached with intention, walks become a space for learning, regulation, confidence-building, and trust.
That’s why we’ve chosen walks as our foundation. Not as a shortcut, but as a real-life canvas for meaningful change.
our philosophy
We specialize in working with dogs who have big feelings — fearful, anxious, sensitive, or reactive dogs who struggle to navigate the world calmly.
Helping these dogs isn’t about quick fixes, tighter control, or perfect behavior. It’s about understanding what’s really going on, meeting dogs where they are, and building skills that actually work in real life.
Giving Back
We believe in using our work to support the wider community.
Curious Snoots regularly volunteers with the New Westminster Animal Shelter, providing enriched walks and support for dogs waiting for their next chapter. As we grow, giving back remains a core part of who we are and how we operate.
Where We’re Going
One walk. One skill. One moment at a time.
Our long-term mission is to help one million dogs and their humans experience calmer, more connected, and more joyful walks. Not through quick fixes or viral trends, but through small, intentional changes to a routine people already share every day.
our approach is rooted in:
-

CURIOSITY
Curiosity over control
-

TRUST
Mutual trust and understanding
-

PLAY
Play, exploration, and thoughtful structure
-

SKILLS
Skills that transfer to the human, not just the dog

MEET LAURA
Founder, Owner & Certified Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA)
Curious Snoots was born from a simple realization: many dogs don’t struggle because they’re “difficult,” but because the world moves faster than they can process.
Laura began her career in the corporate marketing world before following her childhood dream of working with dogs. Her early experience in a dog daycare and group settings revealed how overwhelming traditional models can be for sensitive dogs, sparking a deeper curiosity about behavior, emotional regulation, and how dogs actually learn (and thrive).
That curiosity evolved into a training philosophy centered around understanding and relationship-building. Today, Laura leads Curious Snoots as a certified dog trainer, blending canine enrichment, play, mental stimulation and practical skill-building to help dogs with big feelings (and their humans!) feel safer and more confident in the world.

MEET OLIVIA
Lead Dog Walker (Port Coquitlam)
Olivia’s path into dog training started the same way many big-feeling dog journeys do: with a dog who needed more than the basics.
After transitioning out of a corporate marketing role, Olivia followed her dream of working closely with dogs. Her biggest teacher has been her sensitive and reactive Miniature American Shepherd, Darwin, who sparked a deep interest in dog behaviour, body language, and what dogs with big feelings truly need to feel safe.
That experience led Olivia to apprentice as a dog trainer and continue building her education through seminars, classes, and certified courses focused on behaviour and reactivity. Today, she brings that lived experience into every walk, supporting dogs thoughtfully and meeting them with patience, clarity, and care.
If you’ve ever felt stressed, discouraged, or misunderstood because of your sensitive dog, Olivia gets it. She knows the emotional side of this work, and she also knows how rewarding it can be when you finally find a routine and a system that works for you and your dog.
Olivia now only leads our Port Coquitlam walks but she also supports training clients through her own business: Olive Bark Dog Training.
