dog training in
new westminster
If walks with your dog are starting to feel like something you have to brace yourself for, something needs to change! Because when your dog struggles out in the world, it’s not just hard on them. It can be exhausting, frustrating, and isolating for you, too.
Helping your fearful, anxious or reactive dog feel safer and more confident on walks isn’t about quick fixes or tighter control. It comes from understanding your dog, breaking your goals into clear steps, and building practical skills that support both of you in real-life situations.
What We Can Work On Together
Every dog and every household is different, which means no two training plans look exactly the same. That said, our work often focuses on areas like:
-

Reactivity support
Helping you and your dog navigate big reactions with more confidence, regulation, and clearer communication.
-

Socialization and neutrality
Thoughtful, positive exposure to the world while learning to stay calm around people, dogs, noises, and everyday distractions.
-

Threshold manners and safety
Waiting calmly at doors, elevators, gates, and crosswalks, and pausing before transitions instead of rushing through them.
-

Loose Leash Walking
Building connection and responsiveness on walks so you’re not just managing the leash, you’re moving together.
-

Cooperative care foundations
Helping your dog feel more comfortable with everyday handling and routines like grooming, body handling, etc.
-

Impulse Control
Learning to pause, think, and make calmer choices instead of reacting right away (even when emotions or distractions run high)
How Our Training Works
Every dog training journey starts here:
90 minute foundation session
This initial session functions as a training audit and allows us to take a step back and look at the full picture. We assess where you and your dog are right now, walk through how our training approach works, align on your goals, and create a clear strategy.
Initial Investment $199
(tax included)
By the end of the session, we’ll decide together which training path makes the most sense based on what you need and how hands-on you want the training to be.
OUR TWO TRAINING PATHS:
the walk & train club
You want real progress without having to do all the training yourself.
Monthly Coaching Session
You want real progress without having to do all the training yourself.
What our Clients Say

What our Clients Say ✦
Walk & train club
Our most supported training path. Our Walk & Train Club uses real-life walks as the training environment, because they offer something no classroom ever can: context!
During dedicated Walk & Train sessions, I work hands-on with your dog to break old patterns identified in your Foundation Session and build new, functional behaviours in the moments they actually matter. This is where many people get stuck, and where I take the lead.
I handle the timing, troubleshooting, and skill-building directly with your dog, then show you exactly what we worked on and why. Through clear demos, practical guidance, and ongoing support, the skills we build don’t stay with me. They transfer to you and carry over into everyday life with our human coaching sessions, where you’ll learn how to support the behaviours we’ve built.

about our monthly memberships:
Our programs are set up to be flexible and supportive, not restrictive:
Subscriptions run month-to-month, so you can work with us for as long or as little as you need.
You’ll always receive a reminder email ahead of renewal so you have time to make changes if needed.
You can skip a month, pause, or cancel before your next billing cycle.
Unused session credits roll over into the next month. That way, you don’t lose sessions you’ve already paid for.
Please note: Our dog training programs are currently offered in New Westminster only. For those in Port Coquitlam and surrounding areas seeking private training, Olivia (our lead walker in PoCo) is a trusted member of the Curious Snoots team and offers private training through her company Olive Bark Dog Training.
